Tracker behaviors
How bank snapshots and holdings-based trackers update values for the four live investment types.
Last reviewed 2026-07-14
Investment types do not all update the same way. Invesh uses two tracker behaviors for the types you can create today.
| Type | Behavior | What you update |
|---|---|---|
| Bank Account | Snapshot-based | Available balance as of a date |
| Stocks | Holdings-based | Quantity, avg buy price, current price |
| Mutual Funds | Holdings-based | Units, avg buy NAV, current NAV |
| Fixed Deposit | Holdings-based | Deposit terms; value accrues automatically |
Snapshot vs holdings
- Snapshot-based — point-in-time balances (Bank Account). You record the available balance as of a date; Invesh does not need every debit or credit.
- Holdings-based — positions you hold (Stocks, Mutual Funds, Fixed Deposit). You track quantity/units or deposit terms. Stocks and Mutual Funds show current value and P&L from those positions; Fixed Deposit shows accrued current value and maturity from deposit terms.

Per-type behavior
