Public Provident Fund

Track one or more PPF accounts with deposits, lump sums, interest, and withdrawals — balance builds from your transaction history.

Public Provident Fund (PPF) tracking records the money that moves through each PPF account. You add transactions (deposits, lump sums, interest, withdrawals); Invesh derives balance, contributions, and interest from that history.

Why it exists

Many households hold PPF at a bank, at India Post, or both. Invesh lets you track more than one account, switch between All Accounts and a single account, and see a financial-year summary alongside the transaction list.

How tracking works

ConceptMeaning
AccountOne PPF account (nickname + bank or Post Office; opening date required)
TransactionA dated deposit, lump sum, interest credit, or withdrawal
ContributionsSum of Deposit and Lump sum amounts
InterestSum of Interest transactions you record
WithdrawalsSum of Withdrawal amounts
Current valueContributions + interest − withdrawals (from the scoped account or all accounts)

Transaction types in the form:

TypeUse for
DepositRegular or annual contributions
Lump sum (opening / backdated)Opening balance or backdated catch-up
InterestInterest credited by the bank or Post Office
WithdrawalAllowed withdrawals you want reflected in balance

This is a transaction-based tracker. See Tracker behaviors: Public Provident Fund.

What you need to start

  • Organization type: Bank or Post Office
  • Account nickname (for example My PPF)
  • Account opening date
  • For bank accounts: bank name

Optional reference fields (account number, IFSC, branch, certificate number, Post Office branch code, CIF ID) help you recognise the account later.

Dashboard surfaces

  • Account switcherAll Accounts or one account; add another PPF from the same menu
  • KPIs — current value, contributions, interest, and withdrawals for the selected scope
  • FY-wise summary — opening, deposits, lump sums, withdrawals, interest, and closing by financial year
  • Balance trend — chart after you have at least one transaction
  • Transaction table — date, amount, type, optional description; All Accounts shows an Account column and hides Balance

On small screens, Balance and Description are hidden by default (you can show them from column customize).

Keeping values current

  • Add a transaction when you deposit, record interest, or withdraw
  • Use Lump sum when you need an opening or backdated contribution that is not a normal deposit
  • Edit or delete a transaction to correct history — balance and FY totals follow the ledger
  • You can skip the first transaction during setup and add data later from the dashboard
