Recurring Deposit (RD) tracking stores each RD's terms: monthly deposit, interest rate, start date, and tenure. You do not need to log each monthly deposit.
How tracking works
| Concept | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Account | One organization (a bank or the Post Office) |
| RD (holding) | One recurring deposit with its monthly deposit, rate, start date, and tenure |
| Value | Counts only deposits due so far — future deposits appear only in the projected maturity |
| Projected maturity | Shown as a preview while you add the RD and on the dashboard |
Each value on the dashboard says where it came from: your passbook balance, the bank-stated amount, or a projection from the terms.
What you need to start
- A bank or Post Office organization
- Monthly deposit (₹), interest rate (% p.a.), start date, and tenure in months
Optional details stay collapsed: RD number, bank-stated maturity amount, passbook balance, and compounding.
Warnings you may see
- Your passbook balance is over 90 days old — the value holds at it until you update it
- Your passbook balance is above the bank-stated maturity amount
- The RD has matured but is not closed
- Post Office RDs: more than four missed deposits discontinue the RD unless it is revived — check with your post office
Missed deposits and closing
- Mark missed deposits by month so your value reflects what you actually paid
- Close an RD with a closing date and, optionally, the amount you received. A closed RD no longer counts in your wealth, so it is not counted twice with your bank balance
Other places RDs appear
- Review and approve RDs from Artha imports
- Link RDs to a goal — they show as Recurring deposit
- Delete rows safely — Delete investment rows safely
- Viewers can see RDs but cannot add, edit, or delete
Values are before tax. RD interest is taxable at your slab rate, and banks and post offices may deduct TDS. This is not tax advice.
