Add a PPF transaction
Record a deposit, lump sum, interest, or withdrawal on a Public Provident Fund account.
Last reviewed 2026-07-24
Add a single PPF ledger entry under a Public Provident Fund account. Balance, contributions, interest, and withdrawals update from the transaction history — you do not set a separate “current price.”
Prerequisites: permission to create transactions, and a PPF account (bank or Post Office). See Add an investment account and Public Provident Fund.
Open the app as you go
Field labels match the Add Transaction form in the Invesh app.
Open Public Provident Fund and pick an account
In the sidebar, open Public Provident Fund (or start from Explore Investment). Use the account switcher for All Accounts or one account. Create a PPF account first if needed (organization type Bank or Post Office, nickname, opening date; bank name required for bank accounts).
Start Add Transaction
Open Add Transaction on the dashboard (or finish the setup wizard’s optional first transaction). When you have more than one PPF account, choose which account the entry belongs to.
Enter the transaction
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction Date | Yes | Cannot be in the future |
| Amount | Yes | Must be greater than zero |
| Transaction Type | Yes | Deposit, Lump sum (opening / backdated), Interest, or Withdrawal |
| Description | No | Optional note |
Save when validation passes.
Verify
Confirm the KPI strip (current value, contributions, interest, withdrawals), the balance trend when available, and the FY-wise summary on the PPF dashboard.
Tips
- Use Lump sum for opening balances or backdated catch-up; use Deposit for regular contributions
- Record Interest when the bank or Post Office credits it — Invesh does not invent interest for you
- From Add Transaction → AI Import, Artha opens with Help me add transaction to PPF prefilled (not auto-sent) so you can attach a statement and continue
- From Artha, you can create a PPF account and review one or many proposed transactions (Review & approve) before they land
- You can skip the first transaction during setup and add entries later
